"Fluid Strength – Flamenco Feminine Masculine
Fluid Strength – Flamenco Feminine Masculine explores the shifting interplay of gendered energies within flamenco. The exhibition highlights the tension and harmony between traditionally “feminine” grace and “masculine” power, revealing how strength is never fixed — it is fluid, embodied, and expressed through rhythm, gesture, and presence.
As we open Ricardo Castro Romero’s photography exhibition in Toronto on International Women’s Day, we acknowledge that the concepts of feminine and masculine in dance are deeply subjective. Every trained dancer carries both a performance persona on stage and a personal identity off stage, and these layers continually inform one another.
